Material Composition and Manufacturing
This component is manufactured from high-tensile forged steel (or specialized cast steel alloys, depending on load requirements). Forging ensures a refined grain structure, superior strength, and high impact resistance, making it ideal for the extreme dynamic loads and harsh field conditions found in heavy lifting operations.
The Critical Rope-Sheave Interface (Groove)
The single most important factor in wire rope longevity is the sheave groove.
Precision Profile: The groove is CNC-machined to an exact profile and diameter to properly support the specified wire rope. This prevents the rope from flattening (if the groove is too large) or being pinched (if the groove is too small).
Induction/Flame Hardening: The groove contact area is heat-treated to a specified hardness (typically 50-60 HRC). This hardened "raceway" provides a durable, low-friction surface that resists wear and corrugation. A soft, unhardened groove will wear down with the rope, imprinting its pattern and rapidly destroying any new wire rope that runs over it. Our hardening process directly translates to a lower total cost of ownership by maximizing wire rope life.
Bore and Bearing Seat
The central bore is machined to an exacting tolerance to serve as a precise, secure seat for the bearing assembly.
Versatile Design: This bore is engineered to accept either high-capacity sealed roller bearings (for high-speed, high-efficiency applications) or self-lubricating bronze bushings (for high-load, low-speed, or rugged environmental conditions).
Alignment: The perfect concentricity of the bore to the groove ensures smooth rotation under load, preventing bearing seizure, vibration, and "skip-lifting."
Mounting System & Surface Protection
Bolt-On Configuration: The visible bolt-hole pattern allows for a secure, direct-mount connection to a hub or side plate, simplifying assembly and ensuring rigid alignment within the block.
