Common Failures of Crane Pulleys
Sep 25, 2024|

1. Pulley bearing damage: may be due to bearing aging or improper use, resulting in bearing damage. The solution is to replace the bearing.
2. Pulley abrasion: It may be caused by the contact friction between the pulley and the wire rope. The solution is to replace the pulley.
3. Pulley shell deformation: It may be because the shell is deformed by impact or excessive load. The solution is to replace the casing.
4. The distance between pulley and wire rope is too large or too small: if the distance is too large, the wire rope will slip on the pulley; If the spacing is too small, it will cause the wire rope to twist together. The solution is to adjust the spacing.

5. Pulley rotation is not flexible: It may be because of insufficient lubrication between the pulley and the bearing or pulley bearing damage resulting in rotation is not flexible. The solution is to increase lubrication or replace bearings.
6. Pulley or wire rope wear: it may be caused by long-term use or improper use of the equipment. The solution is to replace the pulley or wire rope.
7. The pulley is not firmly installed: it may be because the pulley is not properly installed or the fixing bolt is not tightened, causing the pulley to loose. The solution is to reinstall and tighten the retaining bolts.
In short, timely maintenance and inspection of the crane pulley can reduce the occurrence of failures. In case of failure, timely adjustment and replacement of parts can extend the service life of the crane.
